Quickly, technology online has created endless tools for professionals to use to enhance their careers. As the Women’s Water Polo Coach at Fresno City College I have recently been learning more about how to use technology in my professional field and how it can enhance learning on my team. One tool that I have been using is social media. Every athlete on my team is an active Facebook and twitter user. Because they are constantly interacting with this application I am able to use the application as a learning tool to engage athletes in water polo related topics. I have posted both instructional video and announcements using these applications. I also, have been learning how to edit and share film using youtube. Watching game film allows athletes to watch mistakes, strengths and the overall game strategy played in that game. Also, I have downloaded applications that have the ability to voice over film. This gives me the capability to send out game segments to specific athletes or voice over an entire game. Voicing over a game saves time, allows athlete to reflect and use problem solving techniques to analyze game film. Finally, I can also apply podcast to my coaching. Today I created my first podcast regarding my Fresno City College Women’s Water Polo team. As a coach I can send out game and practice recaps, messages, interviews and goals. The use of technology in coaching does not end here, but, it does start my journey towards enhancing my profession with the use of technology.
